hello!

My name is Anna Marie, and I am invested in empathetic, human-centered research as the foundation for effective design

about me:

  • 2022-23 Medtronic - Human Factors & User Experience Design Co-op

2021-22 3M - Insights to Innovation Design Intern

2020 University of Minnesota, College of Design - Research Assistant aiding production of emergency COVID-95 masks with unconventional materials sourced from local manufacturers

2019-21 University of Minnesota, College of Design - Fabrication Student Technician

2018 Kay James Design - Graphic Design Intern

  • The necessity of empathy is never lost on me, and I try my best to approach my projects by learning about the human part of a problem first. Because I spent most of my life struggling to understand and express my identity freely, and the latter portion of my life struggling to successfully advocate for my identity, I care deeply about work that impacts disenfranchised groups.

  • Industrial, UX/UI, and Service Design projects with a focus on research work

WORK SAMPLES

3M Bird of Paradise Bottle

  • Industrial design, high-fidelity prototyping, sketching, 3D-printing, collaboration with 3M’s Scotch brand.

  • This is my favorite student project! With support and feedback from 3M’s Industrial Designers, I designed this multi-purpose spray bottle inspired by the rotating, interchangeable lenses of a microscope.

Cover Letter Zine

  • Illustration, storyboarding, craft

  • Applying for jobs is tough! I created this zine to simplify and visualize my background and interests in design from childhood through college and into my career.

CARDBOARD FUrniture

  • Fabrication, sustainability, craft, resourcefulness with unconventional materials.

  • I enrolled in a furniture design course shortly after a surgery that made it unsafe for me to lift more than my backpack. Cardboard provides adequate structural support for chairs and trestles while being light and readily available.
